Copycat Hostess Holiday Fruitcake Recipe

We all love the Hostess Holiday Fruitcakes but they are only available around the holidays and even then they are difficult at best to find.  No worries, now you can please your family with the gift that keeps on giving, a beautiful Holiday Fruitcake Recipe that is sure to please!  This is a super easy simple & quick fruitcake recipe.

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 45 minutes
  • Oven Temperature: 350° f  –  175° c

INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 ½ fl oz water
  • 8 ¾ oz sugar
  • 4 large brown eggs
  • 17 ½ oz dried fruit
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 ¾ oz brown sugar
  • lemon juice
  • nuts
  • 1 ea bottle whiskey

Step 1: Prep the pan

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 2 bread pans and set off to the side.

Step 2: Cream the butter

Put the butter and both sugars into an electric mixer and beat together until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time.

Step 3: Mix the liquids

Beat well after each egg. Add the lemon juice and water; mix till combined.

Step 4: Mix the dry ingredients

Sift together 3 cups flour, salt, 2 tsp baking soda. Add to the mixer and blend well.

Step 5: Add the fruit and nuts

Remove the bowl from the machine. Fold the dried fruit and nuts into the batter by hand. Divide the batter between the two bread pans.

Step 6: Bake the fruitcake

Bake the fruitcake at 350 F until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean; 45-60 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.

Step 7: Add the alcohol

Run a knife around the edges of each pan to loosen the fruitcake. Pour some of the whiskey over the top of each loaf until it won’t soak up anymore. Slice and serve with ice cream or whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
